Giant Tree-Form Prickly Pear Cactus – Live Rooted Plant

🌵 Giant Tree-Form Prickly Pear Cactus – Live Rooted Plant | Yellow Flowering Cactus

Grow something truly impressive with this Giant Tree-Form Prickly Pear Cactus, a vigorous variety that can eventually develop an incredibly thick, woody trunk and large branching structure as it matures.

Unlike the smaller, low-growing prickly pears commonly seen in colder climates, this cactus can develop into a substantial shrub or tree-like specimen under the right growing conditions. Mature plants produce broad green pads and beautiful yellow flowers.

The plant pictured is a young start propagated from our own mature parent plants. Our established specimens develop massive trunks and produce vigorous new pad growth each growing season.

🌱 Planting & Care

Plant in very well-draining cactus or succulent soil. Provide plenty of bright light, gradually acclimating the plant to full sun if necessary.

Allow the soil to dry between waterings. Avoid consistently wet or soggy soil, particularly during cooler weather.

Some wrinkling, discoloration or cosmetic damage can occur during shipping and transplanting. This does not necessarily indicate a problem with the plant. Once established, new growth can appear quickly during warm weather.

❄️ IMPORTANT – WINTER PROTECTION REQUIRED

This is NOT one of the cold-hardy prickly pear varieties.

This cactus must be protected from freezing temperatures. In colder growing zones, we recommend container growing so the plant can be moved to a protected location for winter.

⚠️ CACTUS HANDLING WARNING

Although this cactus has relatively few prominent spines, pads contain glochids and may have occasional larger spines.

Glochids are extremely small cactus bristles that detach easily and can irritate the skin. Always use thick gloves or appropriate tools when handling.

🌵 Please Note:

• 1 live rooted cactus per order

• Number, size and shape of pads will vary
• Mature parent plants shown demonstrate the potential growth habit
• Yellow flowers are produced by mature parent plants; your young plant is not guaranteed to flower the first season
