Giant Cannas have dramatic stocks that shoot high into the air. Tropical colors of deep maroon and green. When in bloom the flowers are a bold red spike of color. When mature and in bloom these giant cannas can reach 9 feet tall or more.
Cannas are a hardy perennial. Planted in zones 8 through 10 they may be left in the ground year round. Zones 7 and below the rhizomes should be dug up to winter indoors. Cannas will grow year round as houseplants indoors with the right conditions.
Cannas love the heat and humidity of summer. The best place for them is in full direct sun. If placed in a part shade areas they will not grow as tall and possibly may not bloom, so be sure to pick an area that gets maximum sunlight.
Canna bulbs can be expensive so starting from seed is a great money saving way to add these giants to your garden. Canna seeds will need soaking and scarification before they will germinate. These plants when started from seed will grow from 1 to 3 feet tall their first growing season and will produce a rhizome by the end of the season. These rhizomes will quickly reproduce year after year.
Cannas are drought and deer tolerant. They stand strong in high winds. Very easy to care for. They work great as natural boards as well as in pots.

🌸 Open Pollination Notice 🌸
These seeds are collected from open-pollinated plants grown in our garden. While the parent plant is collected from, bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators naturally move pollen between nearby flowers. As a result, cross-pollination may occur.
This means the plants you grow may closely resemble the parent plant, or they may display exciting variations in flower color, pattern, size, or other characteristics. Nature loves surprises!
