🌱 Growing from Seed

Coneflowers are an excellent choice for gardeners who enjoy growing perennials from seed. Some seedlings may produce blooms during their first growing season, while others may need a second season to mature before flowering.

Cold stratification is not always required for germination, but a period of cold, moist conditions can help improve germination and mimic the plant's natural growing cycle.

For easy natural stratification, sow outdoors in the fall and allow the seeds to overwinter. Seeds can also be cold stratified in the refrigerator before spring planting.

🍂 Perfect for Fall Planting

Coneflowers are a great choice for fall sowing. Planting before winter allows the seeds to experience natural seasonal temperature changes before emerging when conditions are right.

For spring planting, seeds can be cold-treated in the refrigerator ahead of planting time.

☀️ Easy-Care Perennial

Once established, Coneflowers handle summer heat, periods of dry weather, and less-than-perfect conditions remarkably well. Their sturdy growth and colorful blooms make them an easy-care perennial that returns year after year.
