🌱 Planting

Start Annual Salvia seeds indoors before the last frost or sow outdoors after danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed.

Sow seeds in prepared, well-draining soil and lightly cover. Keep the soil consistently moist during germination and while young seedlings become established.

For best flowering, plant in a sunny location and avoid keeping established plants overly wet.

Our Annual Salvia seeds are collected from plants grown in our gardens and hand sorted rather than commercially machine-cleaned.

Because of the small size of the seeds and our hand-sorting process, packets will contain some natural plant chaff along with the seeds. Chaff may include small pieces of dried flower heads, stems, seed pods, or other dried plant material from the harvesting process.

This is normal for our garden-harvested, hand-sorted seeds and does not affect planting.

These seeds are collected from open-pollinated plants grown in our gardens. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators naturally move pollen between nearby flowers, so cross-pollination may occur.
